Last night at our Quilters' Guild meeting, several of the students from last Saturday's Dye Divas class brought in their fabric for "Show and Tell". I only got a couple of shots, but you can see some of the fabulous results!
There was a lot of 'ooh'ing and 'aah'ing from the members as the fabrics were unfolded and displayed... hopefully we'll get more to try this next time we put on the class!

tie-dye art quilt class
Update: This class will be offered at Fiber Arts/Mixed Media Spring 2013 - click here for more info
This is going to be so much fun! I can't wait to see how each student's quilt turns out!
Tie-dye class and drop dead scenery
Saturday, my friend Wendy and I taught a tie-dye class to 12 students, most of them members of the Coconino Quilters' Guild. The class was 6 hours long, and we held it in Wendy's garage and out back of the garage under a couple of canopies. Far as I could tell, everyone totally enjoyed themselves! Sadly, I was so busy teaching and enjoying myself that I didn't get any pictures, but I'm hoping to get some photos from the students who took pix... stay tuned! Meanwhile, last evening and this morning we had gorgeous scenes to shoot, so here you are:
This was last evening, looking west toward the peaks. It lasted just a few moments, but was long enough for me to grab the camera and head outside in my nightgown!
I stood in our driveway for this one early this morning. We have a large field of Coreopsis growing in our yard, and I thought this would be a great combination... the summer clouds, just the top of the peaks, and the sunny yellow of the wildflowers!
I caught this shot just before the sun came up.

Okay, time to fold the laundry and get breakfast... just had to share all this before I forgot!

Prelude 2011
Here I am beaming next to 'Taos', which had just sold in the first hour of the Prelude reception! I love how this piece came out, and I'm delighted that someone else fell in love with it too... I hope he will have many hours of enjoyment from it! And I'm really anxious now for the trip I will be taking next month with my friend Cinde to Santa Fe, Taos, and several places in between. I plan to take lots of pictures so I can do more pieces like this! Thanks again to Chris Schutz for giving me permission to use her beautiful photo as inspiration for this piece!

Sneak preview
I'm really excited! I am going to be teaching a tie-dye Art Quilt class on joggles.com this fall! Here's a sneak peak of the Art Quilt I am making for the class:
It's not done yet... still need to assemble the quilt and do a little stitching and embellishing, but I think it will be a fun project for anyone who wants to learn tie-dye folds, basic dyeing techniques, and how to incorporate dyed fabrics into an Art Quilt. I'll post more here when I have a class date... hope you'll join me!
